A wax or a glaze fills a swirl mark so it stops catching light for a few weeks. Correction takes a measured amount of clear coat off instead, so the defect is gone rather than filled. That is why the result survives the next wash, and the one after it.

Swirls stop catching the sun
The spiderweb haze under direct light is wash marring in the clear coat. Compounding removes it rather than filling it in.
Depth comes back
A flat, even surface reflects cleanly, which is what reads as wet gloss and depth on dark paint.
Oxidation and water spots go
Etching from hard water and long UV exposure is polished out of the clear coat, not covered over.

What to do with the paint once it is corrected
Correction is the expensive part. Both of these exist to stop you paying for it twice.
Seal it with a ceramic coating
- A coating over freshly corrected paint locks in the result rather than locking in defects.
- Gyeon systems in three-, five- and eight-year tiers, from $798.
- The five- and eight-year tiers already include a one-step correction.
Stop putting the swirls back
- Most swirl marks come from washing, and tunnel washes are the usual culprit.
- Scheduled pH-neutral hand washing keeps corrected paint corrected.

Paint Correction FAQs
How do I know my car needs correction?
Swirl marks in sunlight, light scratches, dullness or oxidation are the usual signs. They accumulate from improper washing, UV exposure and environmental contaminants. Tunnel washes are a common culprit.
Is this the same as a polish?
No. A standard polish can mask imperfections temporarily. Correction removes them permanently through multiple measured stages of compounding and polishing.
One-step or two-step?
A one-step correction handles light-to-moderate defects in a single compound-and-polish stage. A two-step separates cutting and refining for heavier defects and a sharper final gloss. The test spot decides it. Both start at $499.
How long does it take?
Four to ten hours on average, longer for severe paint. We quote the window before we book the day.
Will every scratch come out?
Light and moderate scratches, swirls and oxidation: yes. Anything that has cut through the clear coat needs touch-up or repair, and we will tell you honestly at the test spot.
Corrected paint stays corrected, or it does not.
Correction removes clear coat, so the goal is to only need it once. What decides that is how the car gets washed between now and then.
